The office building was the first of five new and expanded facilities that were included in an overall Master Plan for support facilities that Austin developed for FPL.
The Administration Office Building is a 36,000 SF, two-story facility located within the protected area of the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant. The building houses 250 site contractors and engineers that support the nuclear reactors during an outage.
With outages occurring on a regular basis and the contractors on-site with no office space, it was imperative to design, engineer and construct the facility as quickly as possible. Austin designed the facility in phases and submitted the foundation package to the building department for permits. Austin started construction while still working on the remaining construction documents. Through this process and working double shifts, seven days a week, Austin was able to complete the construction work in less than six months.
